"I'm heading to the Philippines for 5 months to consider my options in serving there full time. I need to decide whether to do support work, or church planting in the tribes. Both are so important. Church planting in the tribes is a great privilege - seeing lost souls come to Christ must be truly outstanding. But the work 'behind the scenes' of support work is vital too. Without pilots, supply buyers, guest house hosts/hostesses, dorm parents, finance workers, field leadership etc., those in the tribes would not be able to do what they are doing! Support workers can get involved in the lives of those in the towns and cities, and be part of the national churches too.
I also need to decide where in the Philippines God would have me serve. There are two different national languages in two different parts of the Philippines, one is rooted in the north and the other in the south. NTM has a base in both, and is reaching out to tribes in both areas. The choice in language determines which NTM base I will be working with, should I choose to do support work, or it will determine the tribes I can work in if I am to do church planting.
I will get the opportunity to experience support work and tribal work, in many different areas. I'm excited to see how God will use this time to guide me into where I should serve Him long term, for His Glory."
